Mark Huff · A life in the trades

Good work.
Skilled people.
A world worth
looking into.

I've spent more than 30 years around HVAC and mechanical systems, from service trucks and controls to project management and sales.

There's a lot to respect in this industry, and a lot for the next person to discover. My books and Mechanical Marauders are ways to open that conversation.

The work behind the everyday

The equipment matters.
So do the people.

A comfortable building depends on work most people never see. The trades bring together practical skills, problem-solving, experience, and people willing to keep learning.

I want more people to notice that work and see the possibilities in it. That means making the industry easier to understand, giving the people doing the work some attention, and leaving room for a little dry humor.

A closer look at the trades.

Mechanical Marauders is my separate side project for that bigger conversation: the people, the systems, the learning, and the ways someone might find their place in the industry.

The Mechanical Marauders website is coming soon.

A view from the field

The work has
a bigger picture.

The trades bring people, equipment, planning, and practical skills together. A career in this industry gives you plenty of reasons to look beyond the part of the job right in front of you.

That broader view is part of what I want to share, alongside the books and the conversations they can start.

From the service truck
to the page.

Mark Huff has spent more than 30 years in HVAC and mechanical work. The first half of his career was in service trucks and controls, before moving into project management and sales.

Through his work helping building engineers and tradespeople learn, he created FacilityCraft Collaborative. Mechanical Marauders is his separate side project, bringing his enthusiasm for the trades to educational books.

Based in Georgia, Mark enjoys the mountains, the beach, video games, and technology. His sense of humor tends to arrive without much warning.
